As we get older, unfortunately our health can start to deteriorate. We may not be as light on our feet as we used to be, or we may have to start taking several tablets a day to keep our bodies in check. Until the Fountain of Youth is discovered it’s inevitable that we will all get older, and with age medical conditions may start to occur more frequently.

However, this shouldn’t affect your holiday plans! As long as you are safe to fly (or cruise!) there is no reason why your love for travel should die. In fact, there are quite a few research papers that suggest warmer climates can assist the ease of medical conditions; for example, a report in the late 80s showed that warmer climates have a profound effect on human health and well-being.

As we begin to move through autumn and head into winter, many people are planning to take advantage of some winter sun – and who can blame them! Popular destinations for this time of year include Greece, Spain and Morocco, with slightly further afield popular destinations being Thailand and Australia.

If you are planning a winter break this year, make sure to be fully covered with adequate travel insurance. It definitely won’t be the most exciting part of planning your trip, but the peace of mind it brings is invaluable. One disadvantage that can occur if you are travelling with medical conditions is that travel insurance can be expensive. However, there are companies that specialise in medical travel insurance. These are well worth checking out if you have been quoted “silly money”, as these companies often include cover for numerous medical conditions free of charge, which in turn means what you pay is lower – leaving you more money to spend whilst you’re there!
