You might have heard of people trekking coast to coast in America or Australia. You might even have heard of people cycling along the French coast, pitching up in tents along the way, but have you ever heard of somebody driving from a holiday park in Burnham-on-Sea to another holiday park somewhere in Cornwall and enjoying the beautiful coast along the way? No? Well, you should have because it would be a really great way to spend your family holidays.
It would be a real family holiday too. Instead of everybody going off and doing their own thing, not interacting with each other outside of meal times and possibly the odd evening activity or rainy day, you’ll spend plenty of time each day in the car, eating sandwiches you made the evening before and watching all the beautiful beaches and cliffs go past. For maximum enjoyment, keep the radio turned off and confiscate any MP3 players, books or handheld game consoles, forcing people to have a nice family chat.
Once you reach the holiday park that you’re staying at for the night, there’s bound to be some entertainment being put on nearby, so you can find something you’ll all enjoy, go and see it and then go back to your chalet. Not only does this fill up your evenings, but it also gives you something to talk about in the car the next day! A whole day’s entertainment out of just one evening is not a deal to be passed up.
The coastal landscape of the South West is beautiful, and having the sun blazing down on you whilst you’re sat in the car with your loving family is one of the best ways to enjoy it, but don’t worry if it rains as your car will keep you warm and dry within. This is one of the big advantages to this type of holiday; whilst everybody else is out on the beaches, ready to get soaked as soon as that glorious sunshine turns into a stormy sky, you’re safe in your car.
The final and possibly best reason to take a holiday like this is that you visit loads of locations in the space of just one or two weeks. This means that when you go back home and your friends ask you where you’ve been, you can reel off an impressively long list, and for years to come whenever the name of one of the locations you’ve visited comes up, you can speak at great length about your experiences there.
